My June 7, 2006 update was incorrect. I thought that I corrected the spelling for Spießträger. I was wrong. It has been fixed for real this time. "I" before "E" or else I am spelling Speiseträger, which means "food carrier."

I added a lot of pictures to Folsom 2008, which was one of my personal favorite Renaissance Fairs in a very long time. We got to march, made trouble with wanted posters for Marti, performed the grand Tyrolean Dance finale that triumphed over our prevous Tyrolean Dances, got into a big fight with the Florentines across the street, Rob demonstrated his brand new Langes Messer with its beautiful sheath and utility knife, we had great food, and I had the chance to spend two days with a very close friend that I haven't seen much since. It was wonderful. I also updated pictures from School of the Renaissance Soldier 2009 and Cain's Crossing 2008 and added pictures from Casa de Faire 2009, Valhalla 2009, and Folsom 2009. Valhalla 2009 was another memorable fair for me for both aspiring to hope and wounds. This has been a heafty update. And good night.

The default introduction page has been removed, the Fänlein roster was updated for Hanzi, the guild officers have been updated, contact information has been updated, and I made a few tiny changes here and there. I also added more links to the front page so it is easier to access the sub-sections within the website.

Cain's Crossing 2008 photographs have been updated. Yes, despite the lack of photo updates, St. Max was out and about during the years of 2007 and 2008. I simply never updated the pictures section.

I updated the "imagery" section with a previously written introduction page and a page that includes an unorganized mob of tent woodcuts. While all the tents are from the 16th century, some are German, others are Ottoman, and others yet are the background to depictions of Bible stories.

Under the mustering section, you will find a new motivational speech, written by our very own Guild Master, Tom Davison. I also added a few links for information on Holy Roman Emperor Charles V and one link for Holy Roman Emperor Maximilian I. As a big added bonus, I added a section on table manenrs.

I simply cut-and-pasted the old woodcut page into the current website format. It looks sad, but at least there isn't a note saying that "this section is coming soon." It obviously is not coming soon.

I have an update with substance! Courtesy of Liam's attention to the website, I have removed three sub-par photgraphs from the Golden Gate 2005 gallery and added three to the Valhalla 2006 gallery. From Erin I have three excerpts from Dawn of Modern Warfare in the articles section. A major thanks goes from me to Erin for that. Jared brought to our attention an article from Bonn University, to which we now have a link. It has some good woodcuts in the second half of the article. Courtesy of Michelle's attendance poll, I can provide a better approximation of our 2007 schedule.
This has been the biggest update in a long time! Let's see what else can go up in the next few months.

Actually, the update was uploaded on the 11th of March, but nobody is going to see it until the 12th because it is late night right now. I drew a bunch of pictures for the roster section and made place-holder pages for the people until they write their biographies.

I added pictures to Golden Gate 2005. None of these pictures are in any sort of chronological order. This update is almost exactly like the Folsom update a few days ago, except I did some color correcting to turn some ugly gray pictures into pictures with contrast and color. "Selective Color" is such a powerful tool in Photoshop, but it is easily misused. With any luck, the pictures look better than the muddy raw pictures I was given to upload.

I added pictures to Folsom 2005 and removed some as well. None of these pictures are in any sort of chronological order, but I managed to put all the pictures of the Flag Tearing Ceremony at the end of the page.

I added pictures of the Golden Gate Fair. That was a fun fair with all of our brawling. I'm told that one of the fair veterans had to let the SF police know we were only playing because our gig was convincing. These pictures were added over the course of a few days. About a week ago I added 16 pictures and forgot to add it to the update log. Now that I've added a few more, I've remembered to write it down.

The documentary has finally been officially added. Better late than never and four months isn't too late for a feature such as this. Yes, it is still shameful to be tardy, but worse events have happened.

I have recieved e-mails from Erin and Liam with suggestions regarding website improvement. Erin has pointed out fixes for the links section, guild officers, guild events (I forgot to mention sword practice was held Saturdays), and the educational discussion of Landsknechte clothing. Liam has been keeping a sharp eye on the photographs, making sure that we look our best. I've made some changes based on his suggestions. Thanks to both for keeping an eye out on the site. It's not a job one can easily perform well alone.
Another new update is the glossary. Now people can find definitions of all the German words that get thrown around on the site. Confusion averted!

It is now possible to click the "© Saint Maximilian Landsknecht Reenactment Guild" text on the bottom of each page and have it direct you to the contact page. Hardly noticable, but I'm sure a few people will find this little goody hidden on every page. It's a little secret, kind of like how the floral border at the bottom returns you to the top of the page. Perhaps I should add more "Easter Eggs" for people to find. For the curious, no, the names of my CSS classes and comments in the HTML are not Easter Eggs.

I have updated the links page by removing one dead reference, I have brought the schedule up-to-date, added more song lyrics to the music section, created an area for information on religion, and have added a whole lot of books to the bibiography. I also re-arranged all the directories on our server. The old site is now in a folder called "OLD_SITE" and this site is now in the root directory. I didn't delete the "Redesign" directory because Ted still has some drafts in there. With this update, I have single-handedly ruined everybody's bookmarks and have thrown all the search engines that reference us off track. But that is what happens when a new site replaces an older site. Things change.

At long last, I have finally added the Valhalla photographs, which were taken by David Ventura. Hooray! Additionally, I made a few minor changes to the character builder. Scrumptious.

I am very behind on getting photographs online. That will come soon. What I have tonight is the addition of the Rottemeister on the contact page. How spectacularly boring this update is.

One good update deserves another. Rather than updating the Valhalla photographs, I decided to add something in the education section instead. You can now find five Lutheran church hyms in German accompanied with a MIDI file. This was previously tucked away in the members-only section of the old version of the website. It's time these songs reached a broader audience. Besides, I don't think anyone has listened them in a very, very long time. I'll add more songs to the list.
I also began adding little woodcuts all over the place. These should make the site a bit nicer to browse through. The woodcuts are somewhat relevant to the page they are placed on. On the photograph page we have a little wood-cut printer man. He's printing images of soldiers. The music section has people playing flutes and the campaign page has a bunch of soldiers marching. Wheee!

I changed the spelling of Speißtrager to Speißträger because the former is an incorect spelling of the latter. What a boring update that doesn't really warrant a place in the update log.

What better day to launch the site than on the day that two of the guild members have their birthday. This makes remembering the day easy.
On the one hand, I jumped the gun a bit launching the site on the 24th of May. Several sections are still incomplete. On the plus side, all these incomplete sections weren't on the old site anyway. Plus, stuff from the old site that wasn't updated is still accessable. The old site is still up, I simply have the default page link to the new site instead of the old one.
Today was rather busy. I went through three years of photographs, deciding against linking to the old site. Since most people would be interested in looking at recent photographs for the time being, I put those up first. Finishing the photographs, which required removing a lot of bad pictures and making new thumbnails, I wrote up several sections in the Guild portion of the site. We have the description of Saint Maximilian and a bit about our goals. With the editing done, I had fun with my FTP program and got things in general working order. Fun.

In all honesty, I forgot to write my log for the 23rd day of May. I am writing this at 12:30 am on the 25th, having just completed my entry for the 24th. On the 23rd I wrote added all the content in the muster section of the site. I adjusted the cascading style sheets, wrote about school visits, Renaissance fairs, filled in the officers, and did other simple but very important tweaks and additions.

Updated by Craig
Content has been added to pages including Renaissance Fair, School Visits, FechtWeb, Bibliography, Fähnlein History, and I fixed a typo that was preventing a link in the drop-down menu from working. The Muster section is almost done, having added a section on how to interact with us at fair. I also fixed some links (where certain pages were using old names), added new a alphabet letter to the collection of Has Holben letters, made a new header, and did some re-writing of older content. I am confident that I will make the June deadline, but not all the pages will be complete. My goal is that a page that is still under construction will provide a link to where the information can be found. In some cases, that means linking to the old site, which means I can't reorganize everything just yet. It's kind of sloppy in those folders.
I dread having to go through the pictures. There's about five years worth of pictures to process and each year has sub-categories of what event they were taken at. So far I have shifted that task really low on my priority list. So long as I have at least three years worth of pictures online, I will be happy. I'll direct visitors to the site to the old archive of pictures if they really want to see oldies.

I have added the Guild section to the site. It is the last section that needs to have pages added to it. This brings me one step closer to meeting my June 1st deadline. The only items I need to complete the Guild section is the SOP, guild history, "Who Was Saint Maximilian" (which I can copy-and-paste from the old site), and how to join. I also need a current officers list. Everything else in the Guild section is all done, which would make it the first complete section despite the fact it was the last one I started on.
To complete the Campaign section, I need to add pages about Renaissance Fairs, school visits, and mustering information. While going through the old site, I found a lot of files that aren't accessable from any of the visible pages. A lot of this can go into the muster, where visiters can have tools to create their own character before they guest with us. It will have other guesting information there too.
The Education section will take a lot of time to get it where I want it to be. So long as I have something on each page, whether or not it has any detailed content on it, I am willing to declare it fit for uploading before heading off to the Valhalla fair at the beginning of June.

I updated the structure of the webpage. After sending out several e-mails to the group lists, I have recieved no complaints about this layout. Because people have no issues, I have put into motion the completion of this wepage. My goal is to get it online by June.
I've simplified the subcategories and renamed about 50% of all headers and categories. I also added this update log, so that everyone can see what has been updated and when (this is the very first entry). Once I have the layout created, I will begin to fill in content. One of the new sections is the event history page, which lists all the schedules I have available. I'm sure people will find it interesting to look at these old schedules after 6 years.
Overall, I updated the structure, adjusted the pages in the Education and Campaign sections, and began to add some content. It was a busy day and these three paragraphs fail to relate the work done. Oh well.
