o, you want to be a Landsknecht or a Kampfrau! We have some information and mental exercises provided on these pages that will flesh out your new persona as a paid mercenary of the Holy Roman Emperor Charles V. The ultimate goal is to have a character that you know as well as you know yourself so that, if somebody asks you a question about your life in 1536, you can respond quickly and with authority.
For many people, their Renaissance Fair character is an extention of themselves so that they simply act like themselves, but with an accent and in funny clothes. For others, a Renaissance Fair character is an opportunity to be somebody different and their alter egos are completely different, allowing these people to be an actor on a stage where the audience is all around.
Whichever route you choose is up to you.
Since you will be creating a new character, it is assumed that he or she will be a new recruit to the Landsknecht army. Also keep in mind that das Todesengel Fähnlein wishes to portray what a typical mercanary company would look like; therefore, we only allow two points of departure from what was average for a Landknecht to be. A point of departure is noted with a + symbol.
