Every Landsknecht is expected to be adept with the pike; any other weapon is secondary. The following is a list of German pike and formation commands. Many of the commands were taken from the 17th Century source "Des Kriegsbücßleins." Basic Commands Achtung! Attention! Auffwerts traget den Spieß. Upwards, carry your pike. Gegen der Porten, fellet den Spieß. Against the port, let fall your pike. Gegen dem Feind, fellet den Spieß. Against the enemy, let fall your pike. Gegen der Reuteren, fellet den Spieß. Against the horse, let fall your pike. Niderstellt den Spieß. Put down your pike. Erstellt euch. As you were (previous position). Weg treten/Aus treten. Fall out (of formation). Other Commands Ins Glied / Reyhe treten. In one rank / file, fall in. Ins zwei Glieder / Reyhen treten. In two ranks / files, fall in. Vorwerts / Rechts / Lincks umb. Face foward / right / left.
